The Effect of Continuous Exclusive Breastfeeding (BSE) Education on Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Among Mothers Their InfantsReach Six Months of Age

maintaining exclusive breastfeeding until the infant reaches six months of age. Continuous education is expected to strengthen this confidence. This study aimed to analyze the effect of continuous education on changes in BSE among breastfeeding mothers until infants reached six months of age. This quasi-experimental study used a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 32 breastfeeding mothers divided into intervention and control groups, with 16 respondents in each group. Participants were selected using purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria. The intervention group received continuous education on exclusive breastfeeding through modules and videos, whereas the control group received routine care. BSE was measured using the 33-item Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale (BSES) with a five-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test to assess within-group changes and an independent t-test to compare differences between groups. The BSE score in the intervention group increased from 54.76 ± 5.26 to 62.50 ± 3.90, showing a significant change (p<0.001). In the control group, the mean score increased from 55.42 ± 6.80 to 56.92 ± 6.19, but the change was not significant (p=0.356). After the intervention, the intervention group had a higher BSE score than the control group, with a mean difference of 5.58 points (p<0.001). Overall, continuous education on exclusive breastfeeding improved maternal BSE and may support continued breastfeeding until six months of age.
