The Quiet Line: Human Reserve Payment (HRP): A Readiness Retainer for the AI Transition
The public has been told that a singularity will arrive in 2027. The available evidence shows a different picture: a quiet, continuous transition across the next twenty-five years rather than a single break. This paper examines the claims against the evidence and proposes two practical responses, a basic-income floor for transition and a Human Reserve Payment (HRP) that keeps trained human judgement available when automated systems need oversight or fail. Treating human capital as a sovereign reserve asset rather than a cost to be removed changes the size of the problem and the options available. The calculation of the readiness asset ($1.68 quadrillion) uses conventional World Bank methods applied to a projected AI-enabled economy with a stress tested Human Capital Share of 20%. Orchid Labs exists to support the shift. Every human–AI relationship shapes the future.
