Volatile specialised metabolites of Achillea cappadocica Hausskn. & Bornm.
Phytochemical analyses of the aerial parts of Achillea cappadocica (Asteraceae), an endemic species of Turkish flora, resulted in the identification of 36, 34 and, 31 volatile specialised metabolites (VSM) for three wild populations. Oxygenated monoterpenes, such as eucalyptol, camphor, and γ-terpineol, were detected as the main volatiles depending on the populations. This is the first report documenting the content and composition of VSM of this endemic species. Data such as this is important for identifying heterogeneous germplasms and underutilized wild species.
