EOSC Node European Digital Twin Ocean: Lessons learnt and next steps

This presentation shares lessons learnt from bringing the EOSC Node European Digital Twin Ocean into production, providing a single entry point to federated marine data, research environments and analytical services. Building on D4Science and EDITO, and supported by EOSC-Marine, the Node demonstrates how existing infrastructures can be connected through shared authentication, interoperable catalogues and open standards. It examines practical challenges in reconciling accounting and resource-allocation models, alongside governance approaches that combine long-term infrastructure support with project-driven innovation. Operational marine services and a prospective cross-node use case on biological carbon sequestration illustrate the scientific opportunities enabled by the EOSC Federation. The presentation concludes with priorities for integration into EDITO, wider cross-node collaboration and sustainable operation, emphasising a central principle: federation should simplify researchers' work while preserving existing providers' services and processes.
