KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS SISWA KELAS XI MA DARULLUGHAH WADDA'WAH DITINJAU DARI TIPE KEPRIBADIAN
Mathematical problem-solving ability is one of the important abilities in mathematics learning. Each student has different abilities in solving problems, one of which is influenced by personality type. This study aims to describe the mathematical problem-solving ability of Grade XI students at MA Darullughah Wadda’wah in terms of extrovert and introvert personality types on the topic of arc length. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of 17 students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a personality type questionnaire and an essay test based on Polya’s problem-solving steps, namely understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back. Data were analyzed through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities varied, with an average score of 64.59, categorized as sufficient. There were 9 students (52.94%) with an extrovert personality type and 8 students (47.05%) with an introvert personality type. Extrovert students tended to fall into the low and very low categories and experienced difficulties in carrying out the plan and checking their solutions. Meanwhile, introvert students demonstrated relatively better abilities and tended to be more careful in understanding problems, developing strategies, and carrying out solutions. It can be concluded that students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities differ based on personality type, with introvert students demonstrating relatively better abilities than extrovert students.
