First Application of Al ( III ) Corrole as Electrocatalyst in Hydrogen Evolution Reaction
ABSTRACT The development of efficient and cost‐effective electrocatalysts is pivotal for advancing green energy technologies. In this study, two aluminum (III) corrole complexes (F 15 C‐Al and F 10 C‐Al) with different structures were synthesized and characterized. These compounds, previously unexplored in the field of electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), have good electrocatalytic HER activity. Between the two, F 15 C‐Al exhibited the most promising electrocatalytic HER performance. The and the turnover frequency (TOF) were 25.17 and 122.90 s −1 in DMF with the addition of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) as the proton source. The observed TOF of F 15 C‐Al in neutral water system (acetonitrile/water, v / v = 2/3) was 2.53 s −1 . The more fluoro‐substitution on the corrole macrocycle, the better catalytic activity for HER in both organic and aqueous media.
