PERAN KEPEMIMPINAN KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN KINERJA GURU DI SMP DAAR EL SALAM BOGOR

This descriptive qualitative study aims to analyze the role of the principal’s leadership as a manager, supervisor, and motivator in improving teacher performance at SMP Daar El Salam in Bogor, while also identifying supporting factors, barriers, and solutions. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, three teachers, and three students as a form of source triangulation, and were subsequently analyzed interactively. The research findings indicate that the managerial role is implemented through system development, meritocracy, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and the use of AI; the supervisory role is enhanced through a combination of direct observation and CCTV monitoring, followed by personal follow-ups and the integration of work meetings; while the motivational role is applied transformationally through exemplary leadership, a reward system integrated with salary, and sanctions based on the concept of homo symbolicum. Although supported by a democratic work environment and adequate digital infrastructure, improvements in teacher performance remain hindered by the senior teachers’ technological gap, ego-driven resistance, and limitations of personal devices—issues that were subsequently addressed through rapid-response management, interpersonal development, and requests for updates to work laptops.
