Utilização de mini-implantes na correção de más oclusões classe II
Class II malocclusion is one of the most prevalent orthodontic conditions and may cause significant aesthetic and functional impacts. Controlling anchorage is a major challenge in its treatment, especially in mechanics that require predictable tooth movement and minimal undesirable effects. In this context, orthodontic mini-implants have emerged as an effective alternative to conventional anchorage methods, providing skeletal anchorage, greater biomechanical control, and reduced dependence on patient compliance. These devices allow movements such as molar distalization and anterior retraction with improved predictability. Mini-implants also offer advantages such as easy placement, biocompatibility, immediate loading, and low cost. However, their clinical success depends on factors such as bone quality, insertion technique, implant design, and postoperative care, as complications like peri-implant inflammation, mobility, and early failure may occur. This integrative review analyzes scientific evidence on the use of mini-implants in the correction of Class II malocclusion, highlighting their applications, benefits, limitations, and factors influencing stability and clinical outcomes.
