La regionalización turística de Tetela de Ocampo, Puebla
Objective: of this document is to analyze how a municipal authority developed the exercise of regional construction of tourism in a magical town of the Sierra Norte of Puebla. Methodology: A mixed- methods approach was employed, using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and complemented by interviews with employees of the municipal government of Tetela de Ocampo in the state of Puebla. Results: The results indicate that the broad and diverse biocultural richness of this destination demands planning and management tools to address the decree of March 23, 2026, which declares Community- Based Tourism to be of public interest. Limitations: The study presents two limitations: first, the exercise was based on a Tourist Atlas with 134 attractions, of which only 85 are relevant as offerings to visitors; and second, it hinders planning from an administrative perspective due to the micro-regional imbalances caused by the concentration of tourism activity in the municipal seat. Conclusions: It is concluded that the seven proposed tourism regions represent the first effort of their kind for a "Pueblo Mágico" in the state of Puebla and serve as the basis for designing special projects that promote equal opportunities for tourism-hosting communities in the rural area of Tetela de Ocampo.
