Research on enhancing the detection sensitivity of calcium aerosol by co-linear dP-LIBS with temperature regulation

This study addresses the issues of insufficient sensitivity and stability in the in-situ detection of calcium aerosols by proposing a collaborative enhancement method based on collinear double-pulse laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (DP-LIBS) combined with temperature control. The experiment compared the spectral intensity and quantitative analysis results of single- and double-pulse on calcium aerosols and systematically investigated the influence of gas temperature (25–100 °C) on plasma characteristics. The experimental results show that under 100 °C conditions, the detection limit of DP-LIBS for calcium aerosols is reduced to 2.83 μg/m³, which is an order of magnitude improvement compared to the room temperature single-pulse mode (LOD = 15.46 μg/m³), and the calibration curve maintains good linearity (R2=0.99). This study provides an in-depth analysis of the synergistic mechanism of temperature and double-pulse coupling on the plasma excitation process, offering a highly sensitive and robust analytical method for trace aerosol detection.
