PREPARATION, PHYSICOCHEMICAL CHARACTERIZATION AND CLINICAL EFFICACY OF MANJISHTHADI TAILA IN VYANGA

Ayurveda, the traditional system of medicine, emphasizes holistic health and the maintenance of skin through natural and lifestyle-based approaches. Among various dermatological conditions described in Ayurveda, Vyanga is characterized by painless, localized hyperpigmentation on the face, commonly associated with stress, dietary irregularities, and imbalances of Vata and Pitta doshas. In the modern era, increasing exposure to environmental pollutants and ultraviolet radiation has further contributed to the prevalence of such pigmentation disorders. Ayurvedic formulations, particularly those derived from Bhaishajya Kalpana, offer effective and safe treatment options. Manjishthadi Taila, a medicated oil prepared using Tila Taila (sesame oil) and skin-beneficial herbs like Manjishtha and Yashtimadhu, possesses antioxidant, photoprotective, and complexion-enhancing properties. The present study highlights the need for development and quality evaluation of Manjishthadi Taila as a safe and effective topical treatment for Vyanga.
