IoT Enabled Assistive Mobility System

Assistive mobility systems are essential for improving the independence and safety of elderly and physically challenged individuals. With the advancement of the Internet of Things (IoT), mobility devices can be enhanced with intelligent sensing, real-time monitoring, and remote connectivity. This paper presents an IoT Enabled Assistive Mobility System designed to support users during movement by integrating sensors, embedded controllers, and cloud-based communication. The proposed system utilizes ultrasonic sensors and motion detection modules to identify obstacles and monitor the surrounding environment. An embedded microcontroller processes the sensor data and transmits it to an IoT platform through wireless communication. The system provides real-time alerts and navigation assistance through a mobile application, enabling caregivers to monitor the user’s mobility remotely. The proposed framework enhances user safety, reduces collision risks, and improves accessibility individuals with mobility impairments. Experimental analysis demonstrates the effectiveness of the system in detecting obstacles and providing reliable real-time monitoring, making it a promising solution for smart healthcare and assistive technologies.
