The scientific significance of the study is determined by a comprehensive analysis, which made it possible to reveal the holistic structure of "value – meaning – motive – barrier" and identify the types of value-motivational profiles of volunteer activities of students of the technical university. The comparative analysis of local data presented by the authors with the all-Russian measurements of VTSIOM revealed the specifics of volunteer activity among students in the context of national trends. The results obtained in the course of the research can be used in designing volunteerism support programs, developing targeted recommendations for universities and youth centers on the formation of motivational mechanisms and removing obstacles to student youth participation in volunteering.
