Beyond Technology: The End of Technology

Beyond Technology: The End of Technology is an exploratory theoretical study examining the vulnerability of technological civilization to prolonged, interconnected crises. The study investigates how a major disruptive event, followed by sustained failures in energy systems, industrial production, transportation, communications, supply chains, institutions, and the transmission of practical knowledge, could interrupt the reproduction and restoration of certain advanced technological systems across generations. It distinguishes the loss of individual technologies from the disruption of industrial production systems, the prolonged discontinuity of particular technological trajectories, and the loss of the general capacity to innovate. It also considers recovery pathways, alternative technologies, and conditions that could weaken or challenge the central hypothesis. This work does not claim that the end of technology is inevitable, that all technological knowledge would disappear, or that technological recovery would become universally impossible. Its central hypothesis remains exploratory and open to further investigation. Abstract
