POSTMODERNISM IN GEORGIAN LITERATURE AND GODERDZI CHOKHELI’S SHORT STORY "THE CHAINED KNIGHTS"

The article discusses the formation and development of the postmodernist movement in Georgian literature, focusing specifically on Goderdzi Chokheli’s short story "The Chained Knights" through the lens of postmodern principles. The author reviews general theoretical characteristics of postmodernism (intertextuality, double coding, deconstruction) and explores why examining Goderdzi Chokheli’s works (such as "The Wolf," "The Ark of Souls," and "The Chained Knights") as vital primary sources for establishing postmodernist tendencies is justified. The paper highlights how the writer merges classic characters (Ilia Chavchavadze’s Luarsab and Darejan with Cervantes’s Don Quixote and Sancho Panza) and employs an ironic-humorous form to address profound national and universal-philosophical problems.
