Measuring Cyberloafing: Multidimensional Psychometric Validation in The Indonesian Workplace
Cyberloafing research in Indonesia has been limited by the lack of validated measurement instruments adapted to the local context. This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the Cyberloafing Scale among employees. Data were collected from 429 respondents using an online survey and analyzed through Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Results supported a five-factor structure consisting of Sharing, Shopping, Accessing Online Content, Gaming/Gambling, and Realtime Updating, with a marginally acceptable model fit (RMSEA = 0.053; SRMR = 0.065). Factor loadings were generally significant, and McDonald’s omega coefficients ranged from 0.749 to 0.908, indicating adequate to high internal consistency. Strong correlations were observed between Sharing and Realtime Updating, suggesting conceptual proximity between these behaviors. Overall, the findings provide evidence for the construct validity and reliability of the Indonesian Cyberloafing Scale. Researchers and practitioners can use this instrument to assess and manage cyberloafing behaviors in organizational settings.
