Scoping review protocol – sensor-based monitoring of upper limb rehabilitation
This record contains the protocol of a scoping review mapping sensor-based methods used to monitor upper limb rehabilitation progress. The review addresses three questions: (1) which sensor-based methods and parameters are used to monitor upper limb rehabilitation progress, in which populations and with which protocols; (2) whether these parameters describe the quantity and range of movement or the quality of neuromuscular control (physiological tremor, force steadiness, movement smoothness); and (3) which measurement properties (reliability, validity, responsiveness) have been reported. The review follows the JBI methodology for scoping reviews and will be reported according to PRISMA-ScR and PRISMA-S. Scopus, Web of Science Core Collection and PubMed were searched on 29 October 2026 (8832 records; 4964 after deduplication). This protocol was deposited before title and abstract screening began. Full search strategies for all databases are included in the protocol.
