Spectroscopic investigations of H3BO3-Pb2O3-ZnO: Nb2O3 glass system
In the present study, H3BO3-Pb2O3-ZnO glasses containing different concentrations of Nb2O3 doped were prepared in the temperature range of 9000C-10000C. UV-VIS and Raman spectra were recorded for 200nm to 800nm and 0 cm-1 to 4000 cm-1 respectively. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern confirmed the glassy nature of the synthesized samples. Niobium-doped boric acid glasses show BO3 and BO4 structural units in the FT-IR studies. The optical band gap determined for the synthesized sample was nearly 3 eV. Using optical absorption spectra, the crystal field strength(10Dq) and the inter-electronic interaction or the Racah parameters B and C are calculated.
