Quantifying Political Discourse Through Qualitative Claim Coding: A Pilot Study in Developing the Global Coherence Index Methodology
Working paper reporting a pilot application of the Discourse dimension of the Global Coherence Index (GCI) to five speeches by national leaders and the UN Secretary-General (December 2025 to January 2026). 757 claims were coded across 18 characteristics and assessed for verifiability and accuracy. The method is in active development and covers only the Discourse dimension, so no Coherence score is calculated. This record includes the paper (PDF) and a zip of additional files: a README with the methodology and file guide, a companion infographic, a blank coding template, process logs, the five coding workbooks with their transcripts, and an experimental sentiment analysis that is not part of the method.
