Structural elucidation and cardioprotective effect of Salmilgetion a with rare spirocyclic triterpenoid skeleton from Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge
Using various chromatographic techniques and spectroscopic methods, combined with quantum chemical calculations and ECD experiments, six triterpenoids were isolated and identified from the roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge., including a new rearranged multiflorane-type triterpenoid with a rare 6/5 spiro 6/6/6 skeleton, salmilgetion A (1), together with known 2 multiflorane-type triterpenoids (2 and 3) and 3 oleanane-type triterpenoids (4-6). Meanwhile, in vitro biological activity experiments were conducted to investigate the cardioprotective of all compounds against H2O2 induced H9C2 cell damage. These tested compounds represent potential candidates for further development as anti-myocardial injury agents.
