Titik Temu Fiqh al-Bi'ah dan Etika Lingkungan Suku Baduy: Belajar Preservasi Alam dari Asketisme Ekologis
The global ecological crisis demands a reactualization of applicable environmental preservation ethics that transcend the boundaries of formal religious identities. In Islamic discourse, the conduct of ecosystem protection is operationally formulated through Fiqh al-Bi'ah (environmental jurisprudence); however, its implementation in modern society is often hindered by exploitative lifestyles. This study aims to analyze and synthesize the intersection between the environmental ethics of the Baduy tribe and the principles of Fiqh al-Bi'ah in nature preservation efforts. A qualitative method was employed through a library research approach. The research sample consisted of previous academic journal articles collected from various indexed databases, which were then examined using content analysis and thematic comparison techniques. The literature review results indicate a fundamental convergence: the absolute obedience of the Baduy community to customary law (pikukuh) and their ascetic lifestyle in limiting materialistic desires are empirical manifestations of Fiqh al-Bi'ah maxims, particularly the principles of dar'u al-mafasid (preventing harm) and hifz al-bi'ah (protecting the environment). Despite adhering to the Sunda Wiwitan tradition, the Baduy tribe operationalizes relevant nature preservation rules as a self-critique for modern society. This study concludes that the resonance between customary law and Fiqh al-Bi'ah offers a proven nature preservation model to address the challenges of ecosystem sustainability on a global scale.
