THE CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS OF INDUSTRIALIZATION IN NIGERIA: AN EMPIRICAL EVALUATION OF COMMUNICATION AND OPERATIONS AT SACVIN MANUFACTURING COMPANY IN KANO METROPOLIS
Nigeria’s successive governments have introduced various policies aimed at positioning the nation among highlyindustrialized countries. However, there has been a lack of policy continuity, as each administration either introducednew policies or altered the implementation framework of its predecessor’s policies. The research examined criticallythe challenges and prospects of industrialization in Nigeria, with specific focus on communication systems andoperational processes at Sacvin Manufacturing Company in Kano Metropolis. The study assesses how factors such aspolicy inconsistency, inadequate credit facilities, insufficient raw materials, reliance on imported machinery, production of substandard goods and ineffective internal and external communication hinder industrial progress. Thestudy employed mixed methods which is the adoption of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. The study found that poor communication channels between management, workers, suppliers and governmentagencies significantly affect productivity and policy implementation at Sacvin Manufacturing Company. The studytherefore recommends that for Nigeria to achieve sustainable industrialization, government must ensure policycontinuity, while manufacturing firms like Sacvin should strengthen professional communication structures andengage competent personnel to drive efficiency and growth.
