INTERAKSI SOSIAL DAN POLA ADAPTASI NARAPIDANA BERBEDA SOSIAL BUDAYA DALAM BERINTEGRASI DI LAPAS KELAS IIA PURWOKERTO

Socio-cultural differences among inmates require adjustments in daily communication and relationships. This study analyzes social interaction, adaptation patterns, and their roles in social integration at Class IIA Purwokerto Correctional Institution. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis involved data reduction, display, and verification, validated through source and technique triangulation. The results show that cooperation, language accommodation, and mutual assistance coexist with communication barriers. Adaptation varies across cell routines, psychological experiences, and reciprocal relationships, while joint activities, supervision, and informal mediation support communal living. Through symbolic interactionism, acceptance develops as the interpretation of speech and actions evolves with social experience. This study concludes that integration is a reciprocal process between inmates' adjustments and environmental acceptance, supported by rehabilitation programs, officer supervision, and peer roles. Original identities can be maintained in open interactions, although social acceptance, participation, and compliance do not always develop in tandem.
