Generalized Tuberculosis in a Teenager with HIV Infection. Clinical Observation

Research objective . To analyze a clinical case of generalized tuberculosis in a child with HIV infection. Materials and Methods . A patient with HIV infection, against the background of which generalized tuberculosis developed, was analyzed. Clinical, laboratory, and instrumental data on the progression of this condition in the context of immunodeficiency are presented, highlighting the insufficient vigilance of both medical professionals and the patient’s relatives regarding this pathology. Results . The patient repeatedly showed abnormal results in the Mantoux test (MT) and the recombinant tuberculosis allergen test (RTA), but no further diagnostic steps were taken, and the patient did not seek medical care. The article provides a detailed description of the clinical presentation, as well as the results of both laboratory and instrumental diagnostics. These findings reflect the delayed diagnosis, which led to a late start of specific therapy and increased the risk of infecting the patient’s contacts. Conclusion . The article emphasizes the reduced vigilance of physicians in diagnosing rare conditions. While this is a natural phenomenon, it underscores the importance of continuous medical education, raising awareness about rare diseases, and developing differential diagnostic skills to avoid missing any cases. At the same time, for various reasons, many patients do not seek timely medical attention, which worsens their condition and complicates treatment.
