Sustainable Development in The Blockchain: The Implicit Case of the Jevons Paradox
The objective of this paper is to analyze sustainability as a practice to address global warming in contexts facing the permanent risk of overexploitation of re-sources known as the Tragedy of the Commons (TDC). The methodological design was based on a review of articles, reports and internet portals that address sustainability from the permanent vision of the market, characterized by a rational interest in the exploitation of available natural resources perceived as vulnerable according to the TDC. The results show that a new discourse related to global warming and the challenges it represents for current societies is required. The research limitations reveal insufficient information on experiences of natural resource exploitation through agreements between members, or on successful experiences of sustainable resource management. The findings point to the need for a more regulated society in market practices and, therefore, respect for the self-management of sustainability by market agents as a fundamental working principle for the future of new generations.
