Determination of seed set in hybrids obtained from crosses between certain translocation lines
In this study, the number of filled and empty seeds per boll was analyzed in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.). These parameters were examined in order to evaluate the efficiency of seed formation and development and to identify possible disturbances in seed production. The ratio of filled to empty seeds is important for assessing the fertilization process, gamete viability, and the genetic and environmental factors that affect seed development. The results obtained may serve as a basis for studying the reproductive characteristics of cotton and for evaluating its seed yield.
