The Application of Standardized Testing in Learning Environments
Standardized Testing has been a part of American History since the mid-1800s. Although many citizens are exposed to Standardized Testing, the definition is not very commonly known. Most descriptions of standardized testing describe it as a one-size-fits-all approach to measure students’ learning to ensure fairness. Whether or not they have succeeded in accurately measuring a student's learning has been a very debated topic for the past century. This thesis will dive into the history of standardized testing, its reasons for being implemented, accuracy of measuring a student's learning, rather than knowledge, and whether alternatives or improvements should be made to better these assessments in regards to the students.
