Del mito al absurdo: un viaje por tres obras fundamentales de Virgilio Piñera
Virgilio Piñera’s work is permeated by a profound sense of discontent with Cuban reality. This article defends the premise that the evolution of this feeling determines the course of his production. To support this thesis, this text analyses three fundamental pieces from different stages of his career: Electra Garrigó (1941), Aire Frío (1959), and Dos viejos pánicos (1968). The focus will be placed primarily on their protagonists and the perpetual confrontation they sustain against society and the status quo. The perspective from which Piñera approaches this dispute will shape not only its outcome but also the style and genre of the drama
