Mathematical methodology in dermatology and electronic skin

Notwithstanding the considerable advances witnessed within the domain of information engineering, the fundamental concept of information itself has become obscured by the extensive utilization of specialized terminology. Mathematical methods in the analysis of skin pathology offer a perspective that goes beyond mere observation. The potential for computer-controlled electronic skin to monitor lesions through the skin and facilitate novel approaches to treatment is significant. The construction of mathematical models and computer simulations based on them may contribute to predicting the effects of transdermal drug administration, and to improving our understanding of inflammation, skin lesions, and the mechanisms of skin homeostasis. This review examines the potential contributions of mathematical science and computer technology to dermatology, drawing upon extant reports.
