Jamaah Tabligh Da'wah Model in Social Conflict Prevention
This study is motivated by the need to understand a preaching model that can prevent social conflict in plural communities, particularly in Masamba, North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi. This area has ethnic, religious, and local identity diversity that can serve as social capital, but it may also create tension when intergroup relations are disrupted by economic inequality, symbolic claims, and weak institutional authority. This study aims to analyze the Jamaah Tabligh preaching model as a mechanism for preventing social conflict. It employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, then examined using thematic analysis. The findings show that social conflict in Masamba is multidimensionally shaped by economic-agrarian, symbolic-cultural, institutional, and digital communication factors. The Jamaah Tabligh preaching model works through mosque networks as an early warning system, intersubjective communication spaces, socio-spiritual resource mobilization, and the concept of layered ukhuwah. These findings confirm that community-based preaching can serve as a relevant conflict prevention strategy for plural societies.
