Primary Oesophageal Involvement by Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma: A case report and a literature review
Esophageal involvement in non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is uncommon and generally secondary to disseminated disease. Primary esophageal NHL is extremely rare, with only a few cases reported in the literature. We conducted a systematic review of the PubMed and Google Scholar medical databases and identified 38 cases of primary esophageal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The majority of the patients were male, with a median age of 60 years. Progressive dysphagia was the primary symptom. The ituximab, cyclophosphamide, oncovin, and vincristine (RCHOP) regimen is the mainstay of treatment. We report an additional case of primary esophageal DLBCL, highlighting the challenging diagnosis and therapeutic management of this uncommon presentation.
