Improving The Performance Of A Split Air Conditioner System Using Dual Fans

Air conditioning systems such as split air conditioner (SAC) systems are commonly used in homes, offices and commercial buildings, leading to increasing in energy consumption. In this paper, an experimental study has been carried out to investigate the performance of a split type with a dual fan during the season summer in Iraq. The aim of using a dual fan in the SAC unit is to improve heat transfer in the condenser of the unit. Thus, this improves the heat transfer of the condenser, increases the cooling effect, and enhances the coefficient of performance (COP). The maximum air flow rate of the two fans is 0.7 m3/s at an outdoor air temperature of 42ºC, and the minimum is 0.3 m3/s for one fan. The results showed that using dual fans reduced power consumption by 2%, while the COP increased by 9.1% at ambient temperature 42°C.
