The Role of ERIC Research Infrastructures in Advancing FAIR and Open Science: The Case of CESSDA
This presentation explores how European research infrastructures support national implementation of FAIR and Open Science through the example of the Slovene Social Science Data Archives (ADP) and its participation in CESSDA ERIC. ADP serves as Slovenia's national social science data repository and CESSDA Service Provider, translating national Open Science policies and FAIR requirements into practical services for researchers, including data curation, long-term preservation, data publishing, training, and research data management support. At the same time, ADP's development has been significantly strengthened through its membership in CESSDA, which provides access to shared standards, tools, training resources, expert networks, working groups, and international best practices. The presentation demonstrates how CESSDA enables ADP to implement internationally recognised FAIR data practices, increase the visibility and reusability of Slovenian research data, and contribute to broader European initiatives such as the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). Drawing on the Slovenian Open Science policy framework and ADP's experience, the presentation highlights how international collaboration, community building, and sustainable research infrastructures can accelerate national progress towards Open Science and FAIR data.
