Subject. The role of small and medium-sized industrial enterprises in ensuring the stability of Russia's economy. Objectives. Analysis of the directions of technological development of small and medium-sized industrial enterprises in the context of geopolitical upheavals accompanied by the introduction of numerous restrictions. Methods. General scientific research methods were applied. Results. The main challenges the industrial sector faced after the introduction of sanctions are higher costs due to more complicated logistics and financial chains, and a drop in demand for consumer goods caused by changes in their features and economic instability. It’s shown that technological development in small and medium-sized industrial enterprises helps improve the quality of products and customer service and also tackles problems caused by the limited scale of operations. Conclusions. Technological development leads to increased revenue and lower costs. However, some measures to ensure technological development involve making significant investments, which requires small and medium industrial companies to adopt a strategy of gradual but steady implementation of innovations.
