The Association Between 3J Eating Patterns, Sedentary Lifestyle, and Nutritional Status With Random Blood Glucose Level in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Outpatiens at Bangil Regional Hospital

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to impaired insulin secretion. Blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is significantly influenced by lifestyle factors, such as diet, physical activity, and nutritional status. This study aimd to analyze the association between 3J (Quantity, Type, Schedule) dietary pattern, sedentary lifestyle, and nutritional status with random blood glucose levels in outpatients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Bangil Regional General Hospital. This study used quantitative design with cross-sectional approach that include 107 respondents were selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected by Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ) to assess dietary patterns, International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ-SF) to measure sedentary lifestyle, Body Mass Index (BMI) to assess nutritional status, and direct measurement of random blood glucose levels at internal medicine outpatient clinic of Bangil Regional General Hospital. Data were analyzed using Spearman’s rho test. The results indicated significant association between total energy intake (r=-0.336), total carbohydrate intake (r=0,681), total protein intake (r=−0,365), fat intake (r=−0,242), meal type (r=−0,253), and meal schedule (r=−0,266) is association with random blood glucose levels (p<0,05). In addition, sedentary lifestyle (r=0,652) and nutritional status (r=0,728) had significant association with random blood glucose levels (p<0,05). Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus are strongly advised to follow diet based on the 3J principles, increase physical activity, and maintain normal nutritional status as efforts to control random blood glucose levels and prevent complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
