Adaptation and Validation of the Communication Self-Assessment Scale Inventory for Deaf Adults (CSDA) in Greek

The Communication Self-Assessment Scale Inventory for Deaf Adults (CSDA), developed at Gallaudet University, has been a valuable tool to guide the development of an individualized aural rehabilitation plan for the diverse population of Deaf, deaf, and hard-of-hearing (D/d/HH) adults. The scope of the study was to adapt and validate the CSDA in Greek. Following a double translation, adaptation, and pilot, we distributed the scale along with directions via the Google Forms platform. The sample consisted of 99 adults with hearing loss, ages from 19 to 58 years. Cronbach’s alpha (>.69) yielded good internal consistency, and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) identified the constructs of the adapted version. The differences from the original CSDA are discussed, highlighting cultural and educational factors and universal trends.
