Biomodulators and Skin Boosters in Skin Rejuvenation: Mechanisms, Applications, and Future Perspectives

Biomodulators and skin boosters comprise heterogeneous preparations whose biological activity and clinical effects require separate evaluation. This structured narrative review distinguishes mechanistic plausibility from human comparative findings for skin aging, skin quality, and atrophic acne scars. A reproducible PubMed/MEDLINE search completed on 16 October 2026, followed by predefined screening, source retrieval, and eligibility adjudication, identified 159 comparative reports, each contributing one specified result. Risk-of-bias assessments classified 123 results as High and 36 as Some concerns; none was Low overall. Selected formulations and procedure-assisted regimens showed benefits for particular outcomes, whereas other comparisons were null or discordant. Hydration, tissue remodeling, clinical appearance, and patient satisfaction were treated as distinct outcomes. Retrospective result selection, heterogeneous interventions and outcomes, four access-unresolved reports, and the absence of a prospective protocol constrain confidence. Clinical claims should remain specific to the product, protocol, indication, comparator, and outcome investigated.
