Penguatan Karakter Peduli Lingkungan Melalui Penanaman Tumbuhan Dalam Perspektif Pendidikan Agama Islam
Environmental degradation in rural areas is often not matched by education that links nature conservation with religious teachings. This community service program aimed to improve villagers' understanding of environmental care from the perspective of Islamic Religious Education, strengthen environmental care character through tree planting at the Sidorejo Village Hall, and encourage the formation of a sustainable environmental care group. The program applied Participatory Action Research (PAR) over six weeks, covering preparation, religious outreach, planting practice, and evaluation with follow-up assistance. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test questionnaires, participatory observation, brief interviews, and documentation. Participation in the outreach session exceeded 80%, the mean understanding score rose from 52 to 86 (a 65% increase), 150 seedlings were planted, and a 15-member environmental care group was established. Qualitative findings showed that participants began to see environmental care as part of their religious responsibility. These results suggest that a value-based Islamic Religious Education approach combining lectures, discussion, and hands-on practice is a promising strategy for strengthening environmental care character at the village level. Sustainability relies on the care group, supervision by village officials, and the involvement of religious leaders, so the model can be replicated in other villages with similar social and religious characteristics.
