Acontecimientos traumáticos severos en la industria mexicana de la construcción: pertinencia normativa y factores territoriales

This article analyzes the presence of severe traumatic events (STE) in the Mexican construction industry in accordance with NOM‑035‑STPS‑2018, integrating the perspective of Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG‑8) and the national regulatory framework. It examines the influence of nearby urban and non‑urban territories as factors associated with the violent component of STE reported by workers, following the methodology suggested by the NOM. Findings provide partial evidence suggesting that exposure to external threads to the workplace may increase the likelihood of violent STE. It is concluded that future updates to NOM‑035‑STPS‑2018 should clarify the definition of “hazards surrounding the workplace” to strengthen its relevance in high‑risk industries.
