A Review of Floating Slab Track: Dynamic Modeling and Low-Frequency Vibration Reduction Technology

The floating slab track (FST) is a type of track that isolates the track structure from the foundation to reduce environmental vibrations and noise generated by train operation. With the rapid development of urban rail transit, traditional FST can no longer meet the growing demands, especially in terms of low-frequency vibration isolation, which poses challenges to both the surrounding environment and human health. Over the past decade, there has been widespread attention on developing accurate dynamic models and low-frequency vibration reduction technologies. The main objective of this paper is to review the research progress on dynamic modeling and low-frequency vibration reduction technology of FST to promote the application of FST. To this end, the paper first summarizes the dynamic modeling methods of FST, including lumped parameter models, continuum models, and system coupled models. Then, low-frequency vibration reduction technologies of the FST proposed in the literation are reviewed in terms of dynamic vibration absorption, isolation and periodic structures. The design principle and vibration suppression effect of each technology within the low-frequency range are discussed in detail. Furthermore, the challenges currently faced by FST are examined, and future research prospects are proposed. This review will help readers understand the research progress on the dynamic modeling and low-frequency vibration reduction technologies of FST, as well as potential future developments.
