“Tu nombre fue arrancado”: deshumanización y borramiento de la identidad del cuerpo femenino en Primera sangre, de María Velasco (2023)

This article aims to study the play Primera Sangre, included in the volume published by uÑa RoTa in 2023 along with Harakiri, which was awarded the Premio Nacional de Literatura Dramática that same year. It will analyse the various ways in which its author, María Velasco, uses theatre as a space for exposing and denouncing the violence perpetrated against the bodies of women and girls. First, it will examine contemporary aesthetics and the ways in which the female body is exposed to constant violence, gazes, and oppression that lead to it being seen in a specific way, homogenizing and erasing the unique identity of these bodies in order to conform to an aesthetic ideal. Regarding Velasco's text, it will review how the author recovers the ghost of Laura, the real victim of the infanticide that inspired this story, as a kind of revenant who reclaims her identity and justice. We will also pay attention to the dehumanization, animalization, and consequent erasure of identity that occurs in Laura through the other characters and real investigations and reports tracked for the elaboration of the piece.
