On the Properties and Problem-Solving Applications of Humpty and Dumpty Points in Euclidean Geometry
As synthetic Euclidean geometry continues to evolve, the increasing structural complexity of mathematical olympiad problems motivates the systematic study of specialized triangle centers. In this article, we investigate two remarkable points associated with a vertex of a triangle: the Humpty point (Pₐ) and the Dumpty point (Qₐ). We establish their incidence properties with medians and symmedians, prove that they form an isogonal conjugate pair, and characterize them as orthogonal projections of the orthocenter and circumcenter, respectively. Finally, we demonstrate how identifying latent Humpty and Dumpty configurations yields concise, purely synthetic proofs for classical results on pedal triangles as well as national and international olympiad problems.
