The Effects of Self awareness on Self-reflection and Insight, Emptiness among Beauty Industry Workers

This study examined the effects of self awareness on self-reflection, insight, and emptiness among beauty professionals. Beauty Service Workers are required to perform continuous emotional labor through frequent interactions with clients, which may increase psychological exhaustion and contribute to feelings of emptiness. An online survey was conducted with 390 beauty service workers using validated self-report questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results indicated that Self awareness, comprising the subfactors of self-esteem and ego-resilience, had significant positive effects on self-reflection (β=.327) and insight (β=.395), and significant negative effects on the emptiness subfactors. Among the subfactors, self-esteem was the strongest predictor, significantly reducing meaninglessness (β=−.565), inner emptiness (β=−.371), and lack of relatedness (β=−.482). In addition, higher levels of self-reflection and insight were associated with lower levels of emptiness. These findings suggest that interventions designed to enhance self awareness, self-reflection, and insight may help reduce feelings of emptiness among beauty professionals. The findings also provide theoretical evidence for understanding psychological adaptation among beauty professionals by highlighting the importance of internal psychological resources in reducing emptiness. Furthermore, they offer practical implications for developing educational and psychological intervention programs to promote mental well-being among beauty professionals by enhancing self awareness, self-reflection, and insight.
