CRITERIA FOR DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS AND PHYTOSANITARY ASSESSMENT OF NEMATODE INFESTATION IN DOG ROSE ROOTS
The article analyzes the scientific foundations of differential diagnosis when associating external signs of damage to dog rose (Rosa canina L.) roots with plant-parasitic nematodes. Root necrosis, a reduction in fine roots, stunted growth, and the composition of nematodes in the rhizosphere are interpreted together. The diagnostic significance of representatives of the genera Pratylenchus and Ditylenchus, microscopic examination, paired sampling of soil and roots, morphometric indicators, and criteria for distinguishing possible causes of damage are systematized. It is demonstrated that the conclusion that an observed symptom was caused by a particular nematode species must be supported by identification and causal evidence.
