FEM analysis of drop of block on beam and determination of its oscillations

This study investigates the impact and vibration of a beam subjected to a falling load using the finite element method (FEM). This study enables visualization of the impact process and determination of parameters such as impact velocity and acceler ation, as well as the effect of damping on impact stress levels. Contact interaction is an actual task of mechanics of deformable body because of demanding of machinery and extraction industries, and also for military needs. Such kind of computation is very important in connection with military attacks of drones on the real estate objects and on the vessels. Actuality of work is caused by the necessity of improving calculations under the dynamic action of forces on construction. Among such methods is related automatic calculation with the help of program complex ANSYS, representing by itself numerical modeling of the collision process. Practical value of the work is in elaboration of a program, demonstrating possibilities of calculations of a strike in ANSYS media of beams of rectangular and I-beam profiles. Application of FEM allows for improving accuracy and optimizing the process of classical calculation. A comparative analysis has been per-formed of traditional method of calculation and calculation using FEM, which makes the advantages of the last one more evident. The obtained results show the reliability of the elaborated program.
