Satisfaction of Pashu Sakhis with KVK Training on Improved Dairy Technologies

Pashu Sakhis are women members of self-help groups who provide community-level livestock advisory and preventive-health services. This descriptive study assessed immediate post-training satisfaction among 30 Pashu Sakhi trainees from Uttarakhand who completed a four-day programme on improved dairy technologies at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), ICAR–National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal. A 15-item schedule organized into six components was developed from 22 candidate statements through relevance ratings by 15 experts (mean relevancy weightage ≥ 0.80). Trainees rated each item on a five-point satisfaction continuum. The reported internal consistency of the overall schedule was high (Cronbach’s α = 0.918). The mean total score was 58.93 ± 8.29 out of 75, equivalent to a satisfaction index of 78.58%. On sample-relative criteria, 60.00% of respondents fell in the medium, 23.33% in the high and 16.67% in the low category. Teaching pace (mean 4.50), relevance of content to dairy problems (4.43) and perceived provision of new information (4.37) received the highest ratings. Coordination and punctuality (3.37), boarding and lodging (3.40) and perceived contributions of trainers’ field experience (3.40) received lower ratings. The reported Friedman comparison suggested variation across the six components (χ²(5) = 48.34, p < 0.001). These findings identify favourable perceptions of instructional content alongside comparatively less favourable perceptions of organizational arrangements. They describe participant reactions to one programme and do not establish knowledge gain, skills acquisition or subsequent livestock-service outcomes.
