Revisiting Minimalist Feature Theory

For a particular mathematical object to be a good model of some real-world system, that object needs to have properties that map to the properties of the (theories of) the system. This paper argues that numbers are not a good mathematical object for features, and that vectors are not a good model for functional categories.

Abstract

For a particular mathematical object to be a good model of some real-world system, that object needs to have properties that map to the properties of the (theories of) the system. This paper argues that numbers are not a good mathematical object for features, and that vectors are not a good model for functional categories.
