Hybrid Work Systems as Strategic Enablers of Disaster‐Resilient Production Management

ABSTRACT This study aims to explore how hybrid work models can be integrated into production management processes and how such integration can enhance organisational resilience in the context of emergency management. Additionally, the study seeks to address a gap in the literature at the intersection of hybrid work, business continuity and crisis preparedness. In this study, a hybrid methodology combining bibliometric analysis and theoretical literature review was applied. A comprehensive Web of Science search conducted on April 27, 2025, was systematically filtered following PRISMA guidelines, reducing 45,114 publications to 91 relevant publications. These articles were then examined through a bibliometric and theoretical analysis to identify conceptual clusters and research gaps. The analysis revealed three primary conceptual clusters: logistics and disaster coordination in natural hazards, risk‐based decision‐making structures and production efficiency and resilience. Based on these findings, a three‐layered conceptual model was developed. The model demonstrates that hybrid work systems contribute to process flexibility, support decision‐making under uncertainty and ensure business continuity during natural disasters through digital communication infrastructure. Unlike existing research, this model offers a unique perspective on how digital resilience can strengthen organisational continuity during crises by linking hybrid work systems with production management and disaster resilience within a unified theoretical framework. This study presents an original model that integrates hybrid business systems with production management principles and disaster resilience strategies. It proposes a three‐layered framework process flexibility, decision‐support under uncertainty and communication/technological infrastructure as key mechanisms to enhance organisational resilience. The topic is timely, interdisciplinary and offers clear practical implications for large organisations and public institutions, addressing an emerging and under‐researched area relevant to both scholars and practitioners.
