RESEPSI MAHASISWA ASAL BOLAANG MONGONDOW TERHADAP LIRIK LAGU “TANO-TANOBON” DAN “MORAOY” CIPTAAN BERNARD GINUPIT DAN KECINTAAN PADA BUDAYA DAERAH

This study aims to describe the literary reception of students from Bolaang Mongondow enrolled in the Faculty of Language and Arts (FBS) at Manado State University toward the lyrics of the regional songs “Tano-Tanobon” and “Moraoy”, as well as to identify their meanings, cultural values, and implications for the interpretation of regional identity. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method using a literary reception approach. Data were collected through open-ended questionnaires distributed via Google Forms to 20 students from Bolaang Mongondow studying at the Faculty of Language and Arts, Manado State University. The data were analyzed by categorizing respondents’ answers, identifying patterns of interpretation, and interpreting their responses based on emerging themes. The findings indicate that both songs received positive responses and were perceived as representations of Bolaang Mongondow culture and regional identity. The song “Tano-Tanobon” was interpreted in relation to longing for one's hometown and emotional attachment to one's place of origin, whereas “Moraoy” was understood as an expression of love for and pride in regional culture. These interpretations were reflected in the students’ practices, including listening to the songs with fellow members of their student association, introducing regional culture and traditional foods, performing traditional dances while living away from home, and using the regional language in everyday interactions. Respondents also associated both songs with the cultural values embodied in the Bolaang Mongondow trimoto: Mototompiaan (doing good and helping one another improve), Mototabian (loving and caring for one another), and Mototanoban (reminding one another). These findings indicate that the two songs are perceived as means of expressing longing, pride, and the preservation of cultural identity among students living away from their hometown. However, the findings reflect respondents’ perceptions and do not establish that listening to the songs increases their love for regional culture.
