The Ubiquitous Sphoṭa Pratibhā Model of Consciousness Centred Communication
The Ubiquitous Sphoṭa–Pratibhā model develops consciousness centred communication through Indian philosophical principles. It takes the situated meaning episode as its unit of analysis and explains communication through relations between lived apprehension, formulation, public expression, uptake and revision. Its conceptual centre is the apprehension of the import of an expression encountered as a linguistic whole. Sphoṭa and pratibhā identify the structural and apprehensive aspects of this episode. Bhartṛhari supplies this centre; Pratyabhijñā distinguishes intrinsic reflexivity from deliberate reflection; Nyāya informs the scrutiny of cognition and its grounds; Sanskrit poetics explains the reach of suggestion and aesthetic experience. The model advances five theoretical principles concerning situated apprehension, generative formulation, coordination without identity of interpretation, consequential return and differentiated achievement. It connects the participant’s experience of meaning with the public commitments through which communication acquires consequences. Experienced intelligibility, demonstrated grasp, articulation, coordination, warrant and fidelity to documented human intention require distinct evidence. Their divergence explains how communication can produce fluent expression, agreement or a completed task while leaving understanding or justification unresolved. An asymmetric human–AI architecture extends the account without assigning human experiential structures to computational systems. Four prospective propositions specify empirical tests and conditions of failure. USP contributes a philosophical and theoretical account of how meaning becomes intelligible to participants, takes public form and returns through encounters that can transform both understanding and action. Keywords: consciousness centred communication; USP model; Indian philosophy; sphoṭa; pratibhā; meaning formation; reflexivity; human–AI communication
